RASC Calgary Centre - Nose Hill Park Lunar Eclipse Viewing

The Royal Astronomical Society of Canada invites the General Public
to Nose Hill Park for Viewing the Lunar Eclipse on
October 27, 2004




On Wednesday evening, October 27, (weather permitting) members of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada, Calgary Centre, will have telescopes available for public viewing of the Lunar Eclipse. The full Moon will undergo a deep total eclipse lasting for 1 hour 22 minutes, and there won't be another one visible from anywhere until March 3rd and August 28th of 2007!

Viewing a total lunar eclipse through binoculars, or a telescope is perfectly safe, and a wonderful experience for anyone who has never seen one. Even if you can't make it out to Nose Hill Park, go outside at the times shown below and look at it or view it through binoculars.

Moon enters penumbra  6:06 p.m.
Partial eclipse begins  7:14 p.m.
Total eclipse begins  8:23 p.m.
Mid Eclipse  9:04 p.m.
Total eclipse ends  9:45 p.m.
Partial eclipse ends  10:54 p.m.
Moon leaves penumbra  12:03 a.m.
Where: the east side of Nose Hill Park at the 14th St and 64th Ave N.W. parking lot.
